Reference Checks

Verifying business and personal credentials provides invaluable information how the candidate is perceived by others, revealing competencies, work ethic and integrity.  We interview the supplied references of the candidate and, where required, we will source out references. Britton Management Profiles typically performs at least three employment references.  In addition, we have the flexibility to reference check in whatever time zone is required.





Employment Verification

Authenticating information provided by candidates regarding dates of employment, position and reason for termination will assist in differentiating oversights or exaggerated claims. We will contact previous employers to confirm dates of employment, the position held, reason for leaving and eligibility for rehire.


Professional Designation Verification

Designations and Certifications are a common area that is overstated by a candidate. We verify claims directly with issuing organizations, which will determine the candidate's honesty and integrity.


Education Verification

Confirming educational accreditations such as diploma, degree, certificates and school attended, speaks to the candidate's qualifications for a position and salary. It also uncovers any fraudulent claims or fake diplomas by attaining verification direct from the educational institution. International verifications are also available.


Criminal Background Checks

A vital part of the pre-employment screening process is conducting a criminal check. It will help to identify candidates that are unsuitable and may pose a threat to the safety of others. Canadian criminal record information is obtained through the CPIC database. This search will not cover criminal offences which fall within the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Typically, this search only takes one day.


Terrorist Watch List Checks

In today's heightened climate of security, many clients might find this search useful. This is a name check only against the listing maintained under the United Nations Suppression of Terrorism Regulations which was developed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and modified by the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and is currently maintained by the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI). This information lists any person or entity associated with, or found to be funding, terrorist activities.


Credit Checks

Credit checks serve to indicate the candidate's financial responsibility. Identifying any derogatory credit information, bankruptcies, liens and judgments, or if the candidate has been involved in activities such as fraud, collection action or theft, is a valuable tool for candidates who will have financial privileges or access to company funds. This search takes anywhere from a few hours to a maximum of 1 day.
